There is nothing like the feeling of when the day comes that you finally get to meet your fur baby! Whether you are flying back home or driving a short or long distance, you will want a few things for the trip back home from picking up your Whoodle.
Pre-Puppy Pick up
Before you even leave to pick up your Whoodle, you will want to ensure your home is ready to have a new furry family member. You’ll want to ensure there is nothing on the floor that your dog could choke on or even any toxic foods low enough for them to reach, like chocolate.
You will also want to make sure you have a place in your home that is designated for your puppy, just a small area that can fit their bed or kennel. You should also introduce your puppy to one room at a time and have other rooms closed off. This could mean having all hallways closed off and only having the kitchen and living room available for your puppy to explore.
Also, it is important that you closely supervise your puppy for the first few weeks and watch for any signs that they need to use the bathroom. The most common sign is when they start sniffing around on the floor.

Food and Water
Food and water! This is the most important thing you will need for the ride back home when you pick up your Whoodle. If you are driving a long way back home, you’ll most likely get hungry and stop for food, but you need to make sure you think about your fur baby; they are most likely hungry too.
If you need help choosing what brand and type of dog food you should get, ask the breeder what kind they have been feeding your puppy. There will be so much change around your puppy, and if their food is the same, they will feel comfortable from the familiarity.
Then if you choose to do so, you can slowly start feeding them a different type of dog food. You would do this by mixing the current dog food with the new dog food and slowly adding more of the new food and less of the old food until there is no more old dog food.
Also, you will need food and water bowls for the drive back home. When your puppy does get hungry or thirsty, you will need to make sure you watch them while they are eating. Otherwise, they will most likely make a mess all over your car, and you’ll be stuck with the smell as a reminder. I suggest you have a small food container and a water bottle specifically for your dog. When they get hungry or thirsty, you can transfer some of it into a bowl for them to eat out of and then put any extras back into the original container.
Treats
Like you, your puppy will be so excited yet nervous when you pick up your whoodle. If you have small treats to give them, they will have something to focus on and help them calm down.
Dog Bed / Kennel
Then you will also want something for them to ride back in comfortably. You can always let them ride in your lap as long as you are a passenger rider because having a dog in your lap while you are driving can be distracting and can even get you pulled over by a police officer.
So if you want something for your dog to ride in on the way home, you can get a dog bed or kennel. Some people will get both because they sometimes feel the dog wants to be up and watching out the window and sometimes want to feel safe in their own little area.
Potty Break Necessities
Lastly, you will want to ensure you have puppy pads and poop bags. You will want to ensure you stop taking your puppy to the bathroom at least every two hours. The last thing you want is to have your new puppy have an accident in the car and leave you with the smell for the next few weeks.
Following these tips when you pick up your Whoodle puppy will surely have a smooth ride home and only good memories from the beginning.
