Whoodles are ultimately one of the healthiest “doodles” being bred today. Part of this lies in popularity; those who love Whoodles are loyal to the breed and couldn’t ask for anything better. Backyard breeders are not yet overtaking the Whoodle breed like the extremely popular Goldendoodle that’s plagued with health issues due to these unethical breedings. Since Whoodles have such a moderate demand, this gives us time to plan and truly create the best, healthiest Whoodle offspring available while still fulfilling the families who would like to own this wonderful breed.
While Whoodles are still a relatively new breed of dog, we’re happy to argue that they’re simply the best there is. When you get a puppy from My Whoodle, you can take pride knowing you’ve received the Gold Standard of Whoodle creation.
Breed Specific Health Issues
Since Whoodles are a hybrid breed of dog, they are susceptible to the health problems that plague both parenting breeds. We do our best to create Whoodles as healthy as they can be. Using our strict Breeding Standards, the likelihood of our puppies facing any of these issues is significantly reduced. Should one of our puppies ever face any genetic health issues, you can take comfort knowing that we offer an 8-Year Health Guarantee at My Whoodle. We strive to provide the Gold Standard when bringing home your new companion.

Life Span – How Long Will My Whoodle Live?
Since Whoodles haven’t been around for thousands of years in the way many purebred dogs have, it’s harder to find formal studies on such hybrid breeds.
Luckily, in the case of the Whoodle, it’s not as complicated as it may seem. When you take the average lifespan of the Poodle which is between 12 to 15 years, and the average life expectancy of the Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier is also 12 to 15 years, it’s easy to estimate that the lifespan of your average Whoodle is around 12 to 15 years as well. However, science has suggested that Whoodles could live an extended lifespan due to the Hybrid Vigor Factor, or Heterosis.
Temperament and Personality
Each Whoodle puppy is a unique individual and will develop its own personality and quirks. You may find that some puppies are slightly more playful than others. One may be more independent while his sibling is shy upon meeting. Beyond this, however, your Whoodle will inherit traits from the breed’s standard. Ultimately each Whoodle will be similarly matched in prey drive, their ability to focus, and exhibit good work ethic. The Whoodle’s temperament is truly the best of both breeds.
Overall Health
Beautifully made, the Whoodle comprises two of the most perfectly paired breeds.
Poodles have a significant Coefficient of Inbreeding (COI) of 2.3%. This means that the level of inbreeding within the poodle breed is very low, giving each generation a higher likelihood of avoiding genetic defects and poor recessive traits.
The Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier was bred for health. He’s known for being a well-muscled dog who can carry his own. Born to be an Irish farm dog with low shedding abilities, these dogs are incredibly hardy and have excellent health genes. These dogs have been known to live up to 17 years old with proper care!
It is an incredible feat to see these two breeds come together to create the beloved Whoodle. Our Whoodles are known for their pristine health and extraordinary temperaments. One of the critical aspects of creating healthy Whoodle offspring is DNA testing! All of our sires and dams are genetically tested before breeding. We ensure our parenting dogs are 100% clear of any “problem” genes that cause many genetic health issues known to the breed.
Additionally, OFA x-rays are completed for each parenting dog to eliminate any chance of inheritable hip dysplasia. These necessary genetic tests paired with our advanced puppy socialization curriculum tie everything together, creating healthy minds and bodies for our Whoodle puppies. Why would you go anywhere else?
