The Whoodle is a mix between the Poodle and the Soft-coated Wheaten Terrier and if you are considering buying a Whoodle there are some questions you might have like, “How big will my puppy get?” and “When will my Whoodle be full grown?” Well, I am here to answer these questions.
There are three general whoodle sizes, but their size will depend on the height and weight of both parent breeds. It is impossible to determine the exact size due to many different factors but you can make a very close estimate. All Whoodle sizes are generally small due to the sizes of both parent breeds. They usually reach maturity and stop growing around the age of one but can continue to grow until the age of two.
Differences Between Sizes
There are three different sizes that a Whoodle can be, medium, miniature, and toy. There isn’t a significant difference between these sizes, but there is a difference. You can predict the puppy’s size based on the parents’ sizes. The first thing you will need to look at is the size of the poodle used, whether it is standard, miniature, or toy. This will be the deciding factor because there aren’t generally different sizes of the soft-coated wheaten terrier so the size mainly depends on the Poodle side.
The sizes of each category are:
Medium:
- Height: 15in+ (usually around 22in)
- Weight: 30-45lbs
Miniature:
- Height: 14-17in tall
- Weight 20-30lbs.
Toy:
- Height: 10in tall
- Weight: around 9-11lbs.
There are some other sizes, but these sizes are scarce and sometimes unhealthy for the dog.
Medium Weight
Medium Whoodles weigh between 30-45lbs and get to a height of 15in+. Medium Whoodles reach half of their weight at the age of 3.5 – 5 months. They then steadily grow to their total weight between 11 – 13 months old.
Miniature Weight
Like Medium Whoodles, mini Whoodles reach half of their weight around the age of 3.5 – 5 months. They then steadily grow to their full size between 11 – 13 months old.
Toy Weight
Toy Whoodles usually get to half of their full-grown weight after 3.5 months of age. Then they steadily grow to their total weight after 7.5 – 11 months old.
